First Time Installations

The latest version of SLIM-Suite is version 10.4a.  The setup files for versions 10.3 and 10.2 are also available via the download button below.

The SLIM-Suite 10.4a setup file can be used to install SLIM-Suite 10.4 for the first time (there are no prior 10.4 releases).

Because 10.4 is a major release, installing it does not upgrade earlier major releases (e.g, 10.3 or 10.2), nor will it remove them from your machine. To remove previous versions of SLIM-Suite, uninstall them via the Windows Control Panel | Programs and Features dialog.

NOTE for clients running SLIM-Suite in a multi-user environment: Workbooks created in earlier major releases of SLIM-Suite (e.g., 10.3 or 10.2) must be upgraded before they can be viewed or edited in version 10.4a. Workbooks upgraded to 10.4 format are no longer compatible with earlier versions of SLIM-Suite. For this reason, clients who regularly exchange or share SLIM-Suite files should coordinate upgrades with the rest of their team.

Helpful Hints:

  • Silent Installs should be performed with caution.  SLIM-Suite is a 32-bit application, which affects the location that InstallShield extracts the MSI package to.
  • Ensure that recent Windows operating system updates are fully completed, and you have full admin rights to the computer.
  • InstallShield looks to see if the required Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable file is installed.  If it does not find it, the setup file will install the redistributable file before installing SLIM-Suite.  You may want to install the redistributable file ahead of time.

To install a major release of SLIM-Suite:

1. Download the Setup File:

  • Usernames and passwords are required to download the setup file. These can be found in your upgrade notice or SLIM-Suite License Email. Please note that usernames and passwords are case sensitive.
  • License and activation codes for the major release (10.x) you are installing:
You will find your license and activation codes in your license email.
If you cannot locate your license email, contact your software administrator or email QSM for assistance.
  • Make sure you are logged into Windows with administrative rights. As many users do not have admin rights to their work computers, this may require some coordination with your IT staff.

2. Run the setup file and enter the Company Name, Company Location, Registration Code, and Activation Code from your license e-mail.  You may copy and paste this information into the Setup dialogs. Be careful not to capture and paste in leading or trailing spaces. If you copy all four lines of text before running the setup file or modifying an existing installation, these fields will be populated for you.  NOTE: If you are upgrading a previously installed SLIM-Suite major release to a point release (e.g., 10.4.a  to 10.4b) and your license is current, you will not be prompted to enter this information.

3. Setup will install all SLIM-Suite applications for which it detects valid licenses. Once setup completes, a message will confirm that the products have been successfully installed. You will be able to access SLIM-Suite applications from the Windows Start menu or the desktop shortcut (if installed).
